Carol Pudsey

My interest in Marilyns began... when I realised that there are good alternatives to bigger hills for poor weather or short days. Wide geographical distribution means that they can often be combined with trips for other purposes.

My favourite Marilyns are... Schiehallion, for its view, geological and historical interest, Foinaven for mountain scenery and. of the ones below 600m. Moncreiffe Hill for its accessibility and view.

My least favourite Marilyn is... Creag nam Mial, defended by bog on one side and deep heather on the other. Have not managed to get up it yet.

Do I keep Marilyn bagging a secret? No

I... worked for the British Antarctic Survey for 20 years as a marine geologist, so I take an interest in the rocks and glacial landforms while out on the hill. Also, I do a bit of kayaking.
