My interest in Marilyns began... after one of my Munro-bagging friends told me in 1994 that some idiot had published a list of all British hills of any height with the same drop criterion as the Corbetts, with the frivolous name Marilyns. I acquired the RHB book shortly afterwards.
My favourite Marilyn is... Liathach - but that is two Marilyns and there is nothing particularly special about either of them - it is Am Fasarinen and the Northern Pinnacles that are amazing. Similarly with the Black Cuillin - it is the whole of the range that is stupendous rather than any individual summit. So I think my favourite Marilyn as such is Eildon Mid Hill, because it is a Borders icon and I can see it just by sitting up in bed when my wife opens the curtains in the morning.
My least favourite Marilyns is ... Bainloch Hill in Dumfries and Galloway, because it is only 287m high. I tried to climb the damn thing in May 2010 but failed due to a surfeit of brambles, trees and barbed wire fences. I had a job identifying it for this questionnaire; it is in my notes simply as 'Inaccessible Marilyn'.
Do I keep Marilyn bagging a secret? Absolutely not. I brag about it to all and sundry.
I... have another obsession with the ancient oriental game of Go. Invented in China about 5000 years ago, in my opinion it is the world's most beautiful and challenging board game.
