Baglogs: Porch Parade:

Porch Parade: Alex Kelso, Fort William (608)

Isn't it great when a trip to Nevisport throws up a totally new book? I discovered that there were 'official' hills other than Grahams, Corbetts and Munros when I found a copy of RHB in 2003, and since then have been doing the Hughs (Hills Under Graham Height in Scotland) in parallel with G, C and Ms. 2005 finally brought me to the 600 barrier and beyond.

Highlights for 2005? Stob Mhic Bheathain and Druim Leathad nam Fias on a wonderful leisurely stroll through Sallachan Glen in April; Beinn nam Beathrach (18C) on a stunning summer evening, where the views caused us to linger too long; Carn Bhac on a long stroll watching the wildlife in late summer (eagle, ravens, deer, squirrels, adders etc); and finally doing the round of Cruachan's peaks, after being rained off it by vicious weather 17 years ago.

Little shites: Brown Muir and Knockan, both remarkably similar blanket heather bog with little to commend them.
