We moved up from Devon to the Lake District in December 1996 to explore a different part of the country and be nearer the Scottish mountains. Shortly after moving we spotted The Relative Hills of Britain in the local library. Our total Marilyn count at that time was a meagre 96, including 27 Munros, the Welsh Furths and most of the Lake District hills. We now realise we could have ticked off many of the small hills in the south-west during our 20 years living in Devon. Despite having reached the magic number we hope to continue on the quest, as the alternatives of taking up golf or gardening do not bear contemplating.
