My relatively modest 35 in 2015 can be attributed less to the grim summer weather and more to the upheaval to life in general arising from moving house and the necessary de-cluttering on downsizing.
Half of the hills were on islands, mainly Skye, bringing my island Marilyn tally to 217 with 11 remaining, mainly those of St Kilda and Foula. Logistical problems are looming. An ascent of the pair of fine hills above Loch Nevis on a fine June day gave another landmark - my 1000th Scottish Marilyn was Carn a'Ghobhair. A five-day visit to Skye during a spell of fine October weather let me bag 12 hills, but running out of time and energy denied me the 13th, Ruadh Stac, which would have completed the island. I look forward to climbing it in 2016.
