Society news and relative matters

Martin Richardson

Welcome to the all-colour final edition of Marhofn. Before you get upset about the demise of Marhofn, please read on. We have three major and exciting proposals:

  1. To create and establish a not-for-profit Relative Hills Society (RHSoc)
  2. To publish a new annual magazine - Relative Matters
  3. To establish a new and interesting website dedicated to the relative hills of Britain.

See inside for the exciting details.

Treading the boards

You may have heard that, at the annual dinner at Ardfern in 2015, the Baggershambles Theatre Ensemble put on a special dress rehearsal of the Wizard of Crieff to celebrate the falling of the St Kilda wall. If you missed it, luckily for you, the whole thing was filmed by Alex Cameron and can be viewed at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrknAm5kuyM

Dull men

Amongst men who collect traffic cones, curate milk bottle museums and watch paint dry, in a book about 'dull men', appeared four members of our community, these being the three tamperers John Barnard, Graham Jackson and Myrddyn Phillips and the omnipresent Rob Woodall for his trigpointing activities. Want to know more? See the book Dull men of Great Britain by Leland Carson (Ebury Press, 2015).

About Marhofn

This is the 18th and final edition of Marhofn, the magazine for Marilyn baggers. Martin Richardson edited it, with significant statistical assistance from Chris Watson and proofreading and layout by Alan Dawson. The digital archive of Marhofn will remain at www.rhb.org.uk/marhofn.

Please do not wait to be asked to submit your contributions to Relative Matters - add a task to your calendar/diary now. Bag totals, articles, baglogs, letters and pictures should be submitted no later than the end of January 2017 by email to rhsoc@rhsoc.uk or by post to:

RHSoc, 173 Radcliffe Road, Huddersfield HD7 4EZ

Post cheques, payable to Relative Hills Society, to: Alan Holmes, RHSoc Treasurer, 7 Ramsgill House, Ramsgill, Darlington DL1 4XD.

Please note we prefer email to snail mail. If you send anything by post, a response could take up to three months or even longer.
