As usual, most of my hillwalking involved repeat ascents. It was a slightly disappointing year, because of weather and other reasons, but I did have a couple of very good backpacking trips in north-west Sutherland (with brilliant weather) and Knoydart. The most notable new Marilyn for me was Hartaval, as this was my final Graham. The previous day I had completed a second round of Corbetts on Glamaig, and the day before that I had completed a third round of Munros on Sgurr nan Gillean. Unfortunately, the weather was poor on all three days, although the day before Sgurr nan Gillean I had had excellent weather, with an inversion on Sgurr Alasdair and Sgurr Mhic Choinnich, and later in the summer I went up Sgurr nan Gillean in the sort of weather I would have liked for the completion - low mist burning off to leave lots of sunshine. Another event about which I have mixed feelings was my first use of free bus travel to access a hill - a traverse of Meall Fuar-Mhonaidh from Alltsigh to Drumnadrochit.
