Baglogs: Central Chamber:

Baglog : Peter Malone (+80=847)

Some say nothing is impossible in life if you set your mind to it, but as I stood on the aft deck of Angus Campbell's boat, looking up in awe to the precipitous Stac Lee, I decided some things are impossible! However, it was good to bag Conachair, which adds well to the CV along with Mullach Buidhe, climbed last year on a visit to the Shiants. In June, when southern Britain was experiencing an exceptionally wet summer and subsequent flooding, we spent a week of unbroken sunshine on Harris, thanks to a prolonged easterly airflow. The highlight of the holiday was obviously the experience gained from the trip to St Kilda.

A short trip to the Wirral in August enabled completion of 30C with Mynydd Rhyd Ddu. Quite promising to finish a Welsh section with only 19 bagged in Wales. I'm still struggling away at Skye; only two last year, leaving seven to go. A late trip to Mull in November increased the Graham tally, but we were driven back by the worst wind I have ever experienced, on Beinn Talaidh. The next week I attended an MBA meeting at the Crask Inn, followed by ascending the delightful Ben Stack (16E). Beware of this little gem, as I had what turned out to be a nasty experience. You may recall the politician Robin Cook sadly met his demise on this hill. At almost the exact same spot my buddie also suffered a heart attack. Fortunately his outcome was much more successful, after carefully descending the hill and getting safely to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. Having completed bypass surgery, the patient is doing fine and longing to be on the hill again. A trip to Northumberland in December finished the year among the delightful hills of Fife.
