Highlights from the new clutch:
Deadh Choimhead (19A). Easy to see why it gets so many wee gem nominations. I tried to piece together the shattered stump of the trig point for a summit photo. What's gone on there - lightning? ice? vandalism? TNT?
Sgurr Marcasaidh (12A). A cherished visit to the centrepiece of the view west from Towerhill Road, Inverness, in the mid 1990s. An improbably steep ascent to the spot height at 507m prolonged the ascent.
Mynydd Mawr (30B). UK high point for son Calum, aged 10, a record shortly to be smashed on Ben Gulabin early in 2008. Headed round the east side of Clogwynygarreg and found a cracking swamp. Yes, the marsh symbol is on the map. No, we didn't spot it.
Buckden Pike and Great Whernside. Successive early rises from Carperby to enjoy peace, solitude and sunshine on these near neighbours. First time walking in the Yorkshire Dales and great to start getting bearings in a new part of the country.
Benbeoch (27C). Brisk Sunday visit up Chris's route, keeping out of sight of a passing truck on the hillside road and marvelling at the ease of a direct approach on this notorious hill. And wow, what scale the devastation over the back. Glad to have that climb behind us.
