Another successful and enjoyable gathering, which turned out to be the Jonathan roadshow. Who needs Ross or Miller when you've got the reliable old firm of Metcalf, Woods and Foote. Jon Metcalf organised the event but then almost missed it by oversleeping on Harris. Driving from Ardvourlie to Stornoway at over 100mph in his turbo-assisted pyjamas, he made it onto the ferry just as the gangway was being raised, leaping Hollywood-style across three feet of broiling Minch. After the usual fine meal and erudite conversation, Jonathan Woods took over the chair so that he could be heckled instead of doing the heckling, and oversaw proceedings in an efficient and professional manner, ensuring that agreement was reached on several important matters, notably the election of Lindsay Munro as Chief Chanter and Jill Adam as Chief Hobbler. In the usual absence of minutes no-one can remember what the other decisions were. Excellent entertainment was then provided by Jon Foote, with a solo and government-approved rendition of his own composition The Ballad of Ailsa Craig. The video of this debut performance is not yet on Youtube, but the words are at: groups.yahoo.com/group/rhb/files/ under 'Songs and Poems'.
