Baglog: James Gordon (+22=1415)

Best moment on a new Marilyn must have been Earl's Seat in the Campsies - a dusk raid in mist and drizzle came good when, near the summit, the clouds suddenly parted to give a corridor into the sunset, with Glasgow tower blocks gleaming against a backdrop of dark sea, even darker Ailsa Craig, and a wild orange-red sky beyond. It lasted less than a minute, but that was enough. Apart from that, I almost finished my set of Skye hills in May. Even the less inspiring here make up for ordinary terrain with exceptional views - Beinn nan Carn above Heast is a case in point. Beinn a'Chuirn just across Kyle Rhea is another.

Graham Tops, however, have very much taken centre stage for now, although not to the exclusion of all else, e.g. Sgurr an Fheadain at the end of a day that began at a camp in Coire na Creiche, went up Sgurr a'Mhadaidh by Upper Rake, traversed the main ridge to Sgurr Mhic Choinnich, descended Coire an Lochain on impulse (with an interruption for swimming), down to the head of Loch Coruisk and back to the tent via Glaic Moire and the GT. End of May, of course.
