My total of 39 new Marilyns was more modest than I had hoped, due partly to the poor weather of 2004 and to the fact that I had three trips abroad, including one to the base of one of Asia's bigger relative hills, namely K2. Perhaps the highlight of the new Marilyns was Largo Law, climbed on a November day of razor-sharp views. Other memorable viewpoints were Beinn a'Chapuill (10A) and Sgurr na h-Eanchainne en route to Druim na Sgriodain (18B). Beinn a'Chaisgein Beag (14A) won the prize for remoteness satisfaction. Most memorable for the wrong reasons (horrid bog or low cloud) were the eastern Leana Mhor (9C) and Hill of Wirren (7).
