2014 saw growing interest in the Tumps from big baggers and lesser baggers alike. This was reflected in the continued growth of the Tump Hall of Fame with the addition of four new members and seeing existing members adding more than 300 Tumps apiece over the year. For the first time the 8000 threshold was passed, by Rob Woodall, on Cow Castle, South Lanarkshire. Colin Crawford became only the third person to pass 5000, on Knowe Dod, also in South Lanarkshire. These landmark hills are being celebrated with good numbers of people turning up, adding to the social side of the Tumps syndrome.
Organised island trips are a regular occurrence, with a trip to Puffin Island off Anglesey being noteworthy for being the first time it was bagged. The island was severely vegetated with sharp shrubbery to ward off the tumpers.

An interesting development has been the emergence of two sub-categories to encourage bagging and add to the fun. Tumping by county has taken off where all the Tumps in a county are the goal.
The multi-Tump island list was suggested by Jim Bloomer and is a way to count islands, over 100 in Britain, with two or more Tumps. This sneakily excludes all the sea stacks so becomes a realistic goal to aim for. This is available in spreadsheet form.
During the year the Google groups Tump forum has grown in membership and is an excellent source of discussion and information about the Tumps. This is where you will hear about new Tumps and changes first along with access information. New Tumps are also announced on hill-bagging.co.uk.
