A moderately busy year for the list of Humps in 2014, with the majority of major changes now coming from surveys rather than from large-scale mapping. Once again, only one straight promotion in 2014 - Foel (30A) on the Lleyn peninsula was promoted in March after a joint survey by John Barnard, Graham Jackson and Myrddyn Phillips confirmed earlier results from Myrddyn.
As for deletions, in February, Fans Hill (28A) was deleted after George Gradwell noticed that it had the wrong col, and Stob Creag an Fhithich (1C) followed it into the graveyard after a May survey from Alan found that it only had 99m drop.
In July, Fora Ness in Shetland was deleted; the hill is 100m high and on a peninsula with only a tiny causeway connecting it to the mainland. It was hard to tell the height of the causeway from the map but on-site inspection confirmed it to be a few metres above sea level. Fortunately this was a year after Colin Crawford had chosen it for his 2500th Hump celebrations. In September, Myrddyn resolved the question of the triple Hump just north of Plynlimon, with three hills all given as 529m on the maps. Pen y Darren turned out to be 70cm higher and so replaced Foel Fras as the Hump, with Foel Grafiau losing its twin-Hump status.

Only 10cm in height separated the two other replacements. Rhos Fawr near Llanidloes replaced the hill it was twinned with, Coed Mawr, courtesy of a May survey from Myrddyn. Closer to Crieff, Alan Dawson surveyed Milquhanzie Hill as being higher than its neighbour Stroness Hill. Just a couple of relocations as well, most notably Waterhead, a 473m Hump in Galloway that has moved about 500m east.
