My greatest disappointment of the year was waiting ten minutes beyond the scheduled meeting time for a day trip to Glen Moidart to tackle its two Grahams. Although this meeting had been arranged for several months, no-one else cared to turn up on this dreichest of days. Having made the effort to rise early I was determined to salvage something and so headed for Cruach Tairbeirt (1D). Once bagged, I returned home in time to escort daughter Hannah to a very successful road race in Glasgow. From greatest disappointment - no Marilyn tick - to proudest dad in just six hours. It means Glen Moidart must wait until better weather and enthusiasm return. I feel the need to advertise the hills of Ardnamurchan, not only for the wonderful isolation and superb sea views of this area, but also for the great walking on gabbro which has not yet been worn down by 100 years of tricounis and vibram.
