Baglogs: Upper Hall:

Baglog: Tony Payne (+2=1534)

I nearly managed three new hills, but having made the long trip to Canna I declined to climb to the top of the island because of the combination of sea mist, hill fog and heavy rain all day, which made it an even more pointless exercise than usual. I've so few hills left now that I try and get a view from them all. I spent most of the day sheltering in a cold but dry church with a Celtic round tower, with occasional trips to the only cafe on the island, but I'll be back. I added one new Irish Marilyn on another poor-weather trip across the water. I'm due a break I think. I made slow progress on 500m hills across the UK and Ireland, and recent Dewey additions have moved the finishing post further away. I did manage to visit some other hills in Fuerteventura and New England, including the highpoints of New Hampshire and Vermont. Unfortunately the planned visit to the highpoint of Maine failed, as Mount Kathadin was declared 'out of bounds' by officialdom due to the remnants of Hurricane Katrina having passed over, even though it was a lovely clear day. The Baxter State Park, within which Mount Kathadin sits, must be one of the most regulated and unfriendly mountain areas anywhere in the world, even though it is deemed to be public land.
