2005 gathering

The venue for this year's meeting will be Tremadog in north Wales (LR124, SH562402), over the weekend of 17-19 June. All being well there will be a boat trip to Bardsey Island on the Sunday morning. Dinner on the Saturday night will be in the Golden Fleece in Tremadog, at 8pm. This is about 50 metres from the junction of the A498 and the A487. We will have the upstairs bistro all to ourselves (complete with bar and real ales). Anyone wishing to attend should contact Brent Lynam as soon as possible for any further information and to check availability:

Camping

The best location appears to be at Tyddyn Llwyn, on the slopes of Moel-y-gest at SH559383 on LR124. Prices are £7 for a single tent up to £12 for a four-berth tent in high season. There is also a more basic site at SH575405, with further sites at Morfa Bychan and Black Rock Sands.

Self-catering

The Snowdon Lodge hostel (SH562399) is 200 metres from the Golden Fleece and is highly recommended but likely to be booked up well in advance. More information is available at www.snowdonlodge.co.uk

The Eric Jones bunkhouse just to the east of Tremadog at SH575405 is more basic and priced accordingly. It's a big stone barn, with sleeping platforms and running water.

Hotels

The Royal Madoc Arms is in Tremadog Square, 50 metres from the Golden Fleece. All rooms are en suite and priced at £40 per night. There are several hotels in Porthmadog, less than a mile from Tremadog, including the Gwesty Arms Hotel (next to the railway station), the Royal Sportsman Hotel and the Gwesty Owens Hotel, while the Tyddyn Llwyn Country Hotel at SH562384) is more rural and handy for an assault on Moel-y-gest.

B&B

There are several options, including Bron Afan at Borth-y-Gest (SH564373). This is right at the road end, overlooking the bay. Phone 01766 513918 for more information.
