The first list of Submarilyns was compiled in 1995. Details of those hills with 148m or 149m drop were published in the first RHB update (November 1995). This included details of fifteen new Marilyns. Two of these, Cruim Leacainn and Lovely Seat, were subsequently demoted, but the other thirteen are still Marilyns and have never been classed as Submarilyns so are not included here.

Cunnigill Hill and Scafell were erroneously included in RHB but have never been Submarilyns as they have a drop of less than 140 metres.
Arnside Knott became a new Marilyn in 2005 but has never been a Submarilyn.
Three Humps are currently listed as having 140m drop but are not Submarilyns: Beinn na h-Imeilte (18A), Overmoor (36A) and The Verne (41A). Beinn na h-Imeilte has been surveyed and has a drop of 139.2m. Mow Cop is a Submarilyn but not a Hump. The Old Man of Mow is a Hump but not a Submarilyn.
