Sadly, I had only one Marilyn outing in 2010. This preceded the Marhof dinner at Ullapool in June, where I enjoyed meeting and putting faces to people only previously known by name and reputation. The meal was excellent as well, so congratulations to the organiser, Alan Holmes. The Marilyns climbed on the trip ranged from the Knock of Crieff in the south to Beinn Enaiglair and Meall Doire Faid near Ullapool. They included seven Corbetts and three Grahams. I have not been entirely idle otherwise, as Mary and I have managed some walking on the more-or-less level. I am now planning a 2011 outing to coincide with the dinner in Skye. I aim to travel up the A82 to Fort William and then take the 'Road to the Isles' to Mallaig, picking up Marilyns as I go. I have identified 38 potential targets but I clearly will not manage them all in the time available so I will probably go for the easier ones. You will gather that the forward planning and armchair climbing is a large part of the pleasure I gain from any Marilyn outing.
