Teenage Fanclub
Mark Jackson (+12=64)
The main obstacles to my Marilyn bagging have been age, time and money; in each case a lack of it. The main technique I have used, with mixed success, has been gentle persuasion:
- I convinced the family that Binsey would make a more interesting walk in the Lakes than Catbells or Helm Crag.
- Already-tired drivers were encouraged to stop off in remote car parks on the way home so that I could nip up another hill. This worked well for Druim na h-Earba, less so for Bardon Hill.
- I took a weekend break to Brecon in exchange for more conventional post-exam gifts - and got rained on.
- I joining the university hillwalking club and made sure that I got on the one available walk which involved peaks that I had not previously climbed.
My Humps total, incidentally, is 92, which is still feeble. However, I did get up Ben Nevis.
