2007-2008 gave very varied experiences. The highlight was the whole of August in Shetland with Charles Knowles, with a brilliant Fair Isle visit, a last-minute failure to reach Foula and everything else done in fair or foul. On the featureless plateau of Dalescord Hill I found that a new compass was haywire and extricated myself by using the wind; not a recommended practice normally. Leg woes look like severely curtailing this game.
