As entry into the Hall is drawing closer - I hope that's not tempting fate - I have done an exhaustive search of my records, maps and photographs to confirm the number of Marilyns climbed. There are a couple that I am fairly sure have been climbed but I cannot be absolutely certain about, so these have been left out.
The year was again a mix of new Marilyns and old favourites, as I continued the task of compiling a photographic record of my walks on as many hills as possible. The pick of the new set was not one of the giants but little Ben Tianavaig on Skye, on a perfect day in May. What a shape for a hill and what a view from its summit. Almost as good was Beinn a'Mheadhoin at the entrance to Glen Affric, which completed a September week of wandering in the hills around Inverness.
In 2010 I plan to add to my Corbett total, which has remained unaltered for many years now, to visit some more Grahams, and to climb more of the sub-2000s, particularly in the Highlands. But my main objective is to have as many memorable days in the hills as possible, irrespective of which list they are on.
