New Kids on the Block:

Alistair Milner (+39=602)

As a new member of the Hall of Fame, I am pleased to report that my first Marilyn was The Wrekin at Easter 1953, although of course at that time nobody knew what a Marilyn was. I had thought it was Skiddaw in 1955 but, looking through the family albums, I found a photo of my mother, sister and me standing next to The Wrekin trig point. Some of last year's highlights:

• Walking on lovely short, dry grass on Firle Beacon and Wilmington Hill (such a change from Scottish heather and bog).
• Chatting to golfers on Cliffe Hill, where the summit trig point is about three metres from the one of the flags.
• A superb day in July on Druim Fada (10A); wonderful views out to sea, and a fabulous undulating rocky ridge.
• Belig, on a hot, sunny, September day with Cuillin views, followed by gale-force winds at Sligachan campsite.
