An interesting and varied year. We had our first visit to the Brecon Beacons early in the year, which proved very productive, and to north and central Wales in late autumn, finally 'conquering' Plynlimon, which we missed 18 years ago, before we knew about Marilyns. Then some trips to the Scottish Borders and the far north-west, before Orkney in September. We found these islands fascinating - superb coastal scenery when lashed by gales. Fitty Hill on Westray is a little gem. We also went close to the Old Man of Hoy but were unable to climb it as we had our collie with us. It was satisfying to reach the top of Mickle Fell at the second attempt - the red warning flags were still flying on Good Friday, so we have finally managed to complete region 35 to add to region 34.
