Due to the searches for Jennifer Thomson I only managed to start on new hills in July so I was not hopeful of much progression in 2007. As Brent Lynam was organising more island trips (thanks a lot Brent) I decided to make the year an effort at crossing off those over water. Thanks to Brent's work I managed Scalpay and Raasay off Skye, all of the Orkneys and all of the Shetlands except Fair Isle (weather) and Noss (ferry service off). On the Skye trip I managed to climb quite a few on the island, several with Andrew Tibbetts' dad Richard. (AD: Rumour has it that Richard is a person in his own right, not just a baggerfather). I also managed trips to complete the Outer Hebrides, Rum, Canna and Eigg. Off the immediate mainland, I did Eilean Shona and Carna. On the outer isles trip I was fortunate to get two absolutely glorious days during which I did two big trips in Pairc. I must have looked pretty knackered after the second one because a couple at Eishken insisted that I come in for tea and pancakes - maybe the kilt helped! My enthusiasm for the islands was such that, towards the end of the year, kilt and I invaded the Isle of Man. In terms of island hills, these efforts leave me with 21 to do in Skye together with the two missed in Shetland, but luckily the latter are easily handled without the expense of taking a car over. I'm looking to Wales later this year to knock a hole in my Taff-land outstanding hills.
