2006 began with a wander over a couple of the Cape Wrath peninsula hills in sunny, windless weather on 1 January, and ended on 31 December on Meall an Tarsaid (9B) in gale-force wind and torrential rain. In between, hills climbed included several unlisted hills and repeats, and an enjoyable and sociable completion party on Lochnagar, with lots of goodies on top. A visit to the Shetlands in June added a few to my total, although the ascent of Saxa Vord was very wet and very windy. Typically, the weather cleared after we were off the hill. I'm sure we'll return, perhaps to visit Fair Isle and Foula.

Following a very wet Saturday in October, the next day three of us climbed Beinn Mhic Chasgaig (3C) in good weather. With all the rivers running continuously white, we could hardly hear each other speak for the roar of the rivers when walking alongside them. Crossing them was at times problematic.

A visit in early September to East Cairn Hill (28A) was outstanding for the massive quantities of blaeberries over a wide area. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to pick more than for immediate consumption, as I had a bus to catch at Carlops. I've made a note for my future reference, but no map reference is being given here.
