The highlight of 2006 for me was undoubtedly my first ascent of Suilven. I'd probably been wanting to climb it for around 30 years, so I waited for a superb day in June. There was some early low cloud, but it lifted and broke up in the morning as expected, to give a brilliant day. The views from the summit ridge were stupendous, but the views of Suilven and Canisp on my return were even better. Another achievement was an ascent of An Cruachan (12B), reputedly the most remote hill in Britain.
