The first highlight of 2006 was a trip to Galloway at the end of March. There was a lot of snow on the hills, and an ascent of Craignaw in crampons on excellent firm snow was memorable. In May we finally made the long-awaited trip to Inverie to claim my penultimate Corbett, Beinn Bhuidhe (10B). Over the next three weekends the awkward Grahams of Beinn nan Lus, Meall Garbh (3C) and An Stac (10D) were all bagged, making for an excellent month. Two weeks later the Corbetts were completed on Beinn Liath Mhor a'Ghiubhais Li (14B). Another key Graham was completed in July after a long cycle in to Ben Armine (16D). Unfortunately a pulled hamstring put activities on hold for a few weeks, but I recovered sufficiently to go to Bulgaria in September, where we climbed the Ultras Vihren and Mussala. A new target to complete the British Isles 'Corbetts' was advanced with a trip to the Lakes in November, although the weather was awful.
